supplement for training harder and longer?

    hi,

    Can i do abit of Thai boxing and find myself running out of steam after a long days work, driving etc. can anyone recommend a good supplement to give you a burst of energy for an hour or so? ideally something that isnt going to make you gain weight, or go mad in the head :D

    I suggest you post your full daily diet here so we can have a look.

    Being so low in energy can normally be solved by wholefoods for most people....the majority of people who look for a supplement can solve there issues by working on there diet.

    Eat low gi carbs during the day (brown bread rice and pasta), lean meat and fish,plenty of veg,fruit when you snack, and plenty of water.
    Also avoid salt as it robs your body's working parts of water.
    Probably not the answer you're looking for, but proper nutririon to help you train is not about a single supplement but good clean eating, boring isn't it.
    If i was training 6 days a week with a specific goal like a competition or fight i might consider supplementing my diet with zinc and magnesium.
    Glucosamine is also worth taking on a cyclical basis to help prevent joint problems.
    Try to make your last meal before training a low gi carb meal rather than a sugary snack (even a fruit one) to avoid spiking your energy levels only to crash halfway through your workout.

    thanks for the replies,

    normally

    mon-fri
    breakfast ~8:45
    mixed fruit and natural yoghurt
    muesli raisins milk

    lunch ~12:45
    toasted wrap (normally some sort of chicken), some coleslaw on the side


    dinner/tea ~6:00
    salad, ham and egg, wholemeal bread

    training at 8

    sat/sun
    breakfast
    2 eggs 2 slices of brown bread glass of OJ

    dinner can be anything, spag bog, steak and mash etc

    Not really, the fact that you train means you obviously have some kind of goal in mind, which is to be better at your art, so why cripple your efforts with such poor dietary habits?

    Your diet is too low in protein, too high in carbs, missing all sorts of healthy fats.

    It's "healthy" in the way Cosmoplitan and Men Health tell people who don't really want to try that it's fine to have "low fat" options, in short, the person writing the article hasn't a ****ing clue! :)

    i suppose ill have to stop being lazy and start making my own meals, as if i was to eat the way i should it would cost me a fortune in the work canteen.
