    Hi guys,

probably a rookie error but would appreciate help.

No sounds on my computer (on audio clips from various websites and no self-satisfying 'click' when I change from website to website).

The mute button ain't on, after that I'm lost!

    Any thoughts?

Is this only a recent problem?

Make sure the headphones\speakers are properly connected. Are they in the right port on your computer?

Make sure the volume is up. On the speaker icon on the task bar (if its there, if not go to the Sound and Audio Devices applet in the Control Panel and you'll find the option to show it as a checkbox in there depending on your soundcard and its drivers) right click and Open Volume Control. Is the Wave volume muted or low?

Make sure your soundcard is installed: Right click on My Computer and hit Manage. Select Device Manager and make sure you have entries under Sound, Video and Game Controllers. Are there Question Mark items listed under Other Devices?

Thanks very much for the reply Aidan. Yes audio was fine until today, can't think why things may have changed. No external speakers/headphones. Volume is definitely up, and in the device manager it states all devices are working properly, no question marks....
