I know I posted on of these in Elven's favourite places thread, but I thought it might be worth mentioning that bluebell season is upon us. I was down in my local Coillte wood this afternoon and while the bluebells are not at their peak, they are not far off,and with the rain they will probably be at their best in the next week or so. Also the wild garlic is just about to bloom, the combination of the two makes for lovely shots.

Beautiful shots! I'd be tempted to put a hint of blue into the sky in the first two.

Oh my god, I missed that! I have previsualisation of few pictures in such area!!! Next year, maybe...

I really like the kind of "half and half" composition of the second shot. Really works for me.

Its not to late for this year, they will be at their best over the next week or so, the wood I was in today is only 25 miles from Newlands Cross.
I have geotagged the photos on my flickr, if anyone would like to come PM me, I will give more detailed directions, I'll be going back some evening this week myself.

Cool pics Nilhg. I took ones very similar on Sunday, went to Slieve Gullion forest park in Armagh and came across a bed of them, not as big as the one you found though. I'll try to post tonight. I've only ever seen pics of bluebell woods from GB or mainland Europe, it's great that they grow here too.

Is there anywhere closer to Dublin that would have some, you think?

    Those pictures are magical :)

Ye know, that question has been in my mind for ages, about decent woodland locations near Dublin. I'm in Meath and there are hardly any publicly accessible woods near me. The nearest place is Balrath Wood on the way to Navan, and though it has a decent spread of woodland life, it's nowhere near big/old enough. Wicklow on the other hand, has exactly what I'd be after, but the better locations are almost 2 hours away.

Where have the rest of you gone?

    B.

there's a privately owned but publically accessible small patch of woodland between trim and longwood; good displays of bluebells.
PM me if you want (rough) directions.

    On a Sunday Morning
Kilanthomas wood is about 45 minutes drive from Newlands Cross or about 15 from the Curragh racecourse, and could be easily combined with a visit to the Japanese Gardens/National Stud in Kildare town. The only other place I can think of would be Donadea Forest Park.

If anyone is coming I would strongly recommend bringing a tripod

    Lemonade.

Well no, comment and critique, or some variation of those words. Tell if you like it or not, if not why not, but be nice 'n all that jazz.
