Looking at them now they're very grainy and a bit soft, but on the whole I'm kinda pleased with quite a few. Considering I could only go down to 3.5. I am DEFINITELY getting the 50mm 1.8! I'm still not quite sure what makes a good gig shot though. I tried to stay away from the obvious 'get all members in the one' type thing. Still not sure they're anything other than snaps though, ya know? Advice/feedback appreciated. And feel free to edit - I left them pretty much straight out of the camera.

Full set at http://www.flickr.com/photos/sineadw/sets/72157600107335927/ (a few stuck up there that the band wanted - not all that great..)

I can't believe they are with the kit lens.

Love the expression you caught in the first one, and the framing in the last is excellent. The noise isn't as bad as I'd have expected, especially in colour. I think you could get away with a bit of a tweak to make the backgrounds true black, and even introduce a touch more contrast. I love how you caught the movement in the second one, its just a shame you didn't frame to the right a bit to get the whole guitarist in. Doubt I'd manage to come home with anything like these, Im well impressed.

    Thanks all :D
    was it busy.

Spells played first (warm-up for Finland next week) so it was nicely quiet then. Hence not running the gauntlet of getting the camera kicked out of my hands by some overenthusiastic mad men. It got pretty packed later though. A good night (of what I can remember..). They play there again in July, and next months Stompin Ground is looking like a cracker.

They're certainly nice alright, I like the 3rd one best. Nicely framed. But wait till you get your hands on the 50mm! It's an excellent piece of hardware! Life changing even! ;)

Very good Sinead -- your obviously getting more comfortable with the new camera , since i saw you struggling in the dark in the Phoenix park -- have you shot gigs before ? i'd say so ;)
