Picked up a Canon 1.8 50mm Prime Lens today in Denis MacSweeney's in Cork, and I love finally having a 1.8 lens, it makes such a difference!

congrat's! was just using one today myself. How much did you pay for it, if you don't mind my asking?

150, which is obviously more than you can get it on the net for, but when things are sub 300 Euro, I prefer to buy locally.

Enjoy. It's a cracker of a lens. The best Canon value - even at 150 Euro - available. (I got mine on the net for around 90 Euro).

Everyone with a Canon DSLR should buy one.

...I was going to reply with a gig shot that I took on Thursday, but according to the EXIF I used my 28mm. Whoops.

It's a fantastic lens, although it honestly doesn't get much use, my 28mm being far more versatile. On a full frame it'd be the oppisite, the 28mm being too wide and the 50mm "just right."

Fair warning, the autofocus is horrible. It's great if you've light, but even with the AF-asisst beam from my flash it kept locking to infinity and taking it's merry time about doing that.
