I am thinking of buying a '02 Honda VFR800 (newer model). It has 18k miles and is almost imaculate. It needs a new chain and 2 tyres. Buyer is asking €6500. I have the bike at the moment and have just done the 27 mile trip to work. I find the seat height a little too tall, has anyone ever lowered one of these? Has anyone any opinion on the price? Has anyone any comments good or bad on the bike in general?

Seems like a good price, alright. Of course, that might be down to the "almost Immaculate" nature of the beast. ;) Never heard of anyone lowering one, I'm afraid. I'm guessing there's a little more to it than just slapping a shorter shock on the rear. Just doing that would surely drastically alter the handling characteristics, right?

Overall, though, it's an excellent bike for all seasons. Pretty good tank range, great performance, and it even looks good.

I could offer to sell you my (totally immaculate :) ) one, but I'm pretty much resigned to wrapping it up for storage until it becomes a highly valuable antique.

Bought a new one in Feb - and have had endless fun with it.

There will always be bikes that are bigger or faster or more comfortable - but its a great all rounder and seems to do most things better than a lot of bikes out there.

I'm a bit of a short arse myself - just touching 5' 7" and I found it a little high at first - especially the first few days but I feel completely comfortable with it now.

I bought an 02 VTEC 4 weeks ago. I like all-round bikes, and in my opinion there is no beating the VFR.

It’s a really well put together bike, build quality is excellent. Don't be afraid of high mileage, they are well able for it.

I use the bike primarily for commuting to work through the city. I'm surprised at how civilised the bike is, but when you want it to go, it goes. The VTEC is a great feature and sounds brilliant.

The riding position is taking me a bit of time to get used to because my previous bike was a Deauville, and the riding position was more upright. Still, I'm not finding it uncomfortable, just a matter of getting used to it.

Its and excellent all round machine and nobody builds bikes like Honda. Go forth and purchase, you won’t be disappointed!

Did I mention how good it looks on the road? ;)
