    Hey all,

Im a tad bit confused about a problem im having. I purchased a music CD (2 disk) called Essentail Songs, Spring Collection. When I put disk one into the PC, it comes up with a flash screen telling me I can listen to extra songs and vides of songs on the wesite. But, it doesnt give me the option to play the audio on the PC. I checked the contents of the disk and its basicaly a readme file, inf file and a program ( exe ) file (which gives the flash screen).

Putting that disk into a CD player - it plays OK.

Whats the story here? Is this some sort of new compilation for CDs which doesnt allow music to be played on Computers (as a piracy prevention)?

    Cheers.

the songs are probably hidden files or something? explore the cd , click on the tab up the top called "tools", then click folder options
in this new window click the tab "view", then there should be a heading "hidden files and folders" click show. id be very suprised if the dont show up now? what media player are you using?

Iv already all hidden files/folders to appear, so it wasnt that anyway. There are no music files. Just startup.exe, readme.txt (which says to run startup if it doesnt automaticaly) and autorun.inf (the file which tells it what to do on insert of CD of course).

iTunes will play the content if I tell it to. However, id still like to know - how is iTunes getting the audio and I cant by simply exploring the content?

The disc has two different tracks - one data, one audio. When you browse the disc, you see the data track. Normal CD's only have the audio track which is why you can see cda files.

It's as Feylya says. To play it, fire up Windows Media player first (or whatever CD player you normally use) and then tell it to play the music.

It's not anti-piracy or anything that hi-tech, it's just extra "features" on the CD. Pain in the ass, TBH.
