Red Setters suffer alot from arthritis.
My old fellow slowed down dramatically when he got to about 13 years old.
He lasted until he was 16 but in the end he found it very difficult to get up.
I used to give him 1000mg of cod liver oil every day (2 tablets)
I gave him a product called easy mover for a while .
Its a liquid and you mix it in with food.
Glucosamine Sulfate is good for joints.
You will need a high dose maybe around 1000 to 1500mg tablets ,these are not herbal or homeapthy stuff.
I had been looking at getting these Glucosamine tablets;Flexipaws but the concentration is too low

    These sometimes work
    Spotted these

    http://www.magnecare.co.uk/html/petcare_products.html
Those are the main methods I used.

I used to put the Cod Liver Oil tablets in a piece of ham or in a dog biscuit and he'd gulp em down.

I've an English setter who has a touch of the arthritis too.

We give her cod liver oil too.

Also it's good to make sure that they have somewhere soft to lie down on and are kept warm to ease any pain in their joints.
