No, I'd say that's below average for a position like that - should be about 50-55 I'd say.

Does it really matter? Either you're interested in the job, or you're not. One minute people here are complaining there's only IT support jobs, no future in IT blah blah. Heres a couple development roles with a salary scale more or less consistent with the salary surveys, and you're complaining about the money. Jobs like these are what you need to do for a couple of years and then move on up the ladder to the better IT jobs.

In fairness the 3-5 year 35-45K mark seems to be a thing across the IT industry.

Completely unrelated to the above job - as someone with more than 3-5 years experience and earning more than 35-45K its something I've run into quite a bit in the last few years - for example:
On a separate note, I presume, looking forward, that at a minimum you would not want to drop salary, even for a role you found more interesting?

No just increasing slower than everything else. http://www.finfacts.com/Private/isl/grads.htm IMO theres less jobs IT jobs around in general. Despite what you hear from Colleges and agencies.

I've no interest in the job. If I was, I'd have PM'd him like he requested. I was talking to easyontheeye who asked about whether the money was good or not.

Not to put too fine a point on it, BostonB, but which is it:

    a) more
    b) less

Here's a tip to certain respondants.

Quit bitching. I agree that the starting salary range for 3-5 years experience is too low, but that's the task for the interviewee to negotiate, not us.

Good luck kbannon. I'll forward this onto a mate of mine, he might be interested - and you'd be lucky to get him!

And I was talking to those people who complain theres no development jobs out there. But I guess if they expect after 3yrs to start on 60k I can understand why they are struggling to get into development and stay on support.

In the surveys I've seen this ones somewhere in the middle. So both more and less.

It's 35-45k for 3-5 years experience so someone with 5 years of the right experience would get 45k.

Who said that people with the minimimum experience req'd (3 years) were looking to get the max salary (45k), plus another 15k on top of that?

kbannon, apologies, for spouting shyite on your thread. I just replied to easyontheeye who asked was that an average salary... I reckoned for 5 years exp it should be about 50-55. However, as you mentioned, there are other benefits and if it's a young company there could be a lot of scope to do well if the company does well, etc. If I knew anyone, I'd pass on the details. G Luck.

Just because you have 5 years experience does not mean that you are worth 25 never mind 45K!
Anyhow, the company isn't young - its well established and has a client list comprising of loads of high profile companys.
As I said, its a good place to work.
