We have the arguement between all our mates when going out! I prefer to go dancing to some good choons and not comercial crap that most clubs play in dublin! But some of my mates would be happy anywhere as long as the drink is cheap and they can get to the bar and stand there all night!

So your going out with yer mates maybe yer better half and you want to go dancing! what would make you go to a club? Music? Cheep booze? or what?

    Cheers

A good fight at the end. Ar!

Oh and decent service time, nowt worse than standin about like a tool at the bar for 20+ minutes trying to attract the barmaid with my muscular forearms.

Em girls, and given my less than spectacular success record I don't think it's worth it. A good pub ftw.

I prefer a quiet pub, I go out to chat and have a laugh
somewhere where commercial rubbish is pounding my eardrums and i cant hear anything else isnt great but it's ok
but i refuse to pay in to any nightclub ever for the privilege of overpriced drinks and deafness

A night club that has decent prices on their beer (although, that really doesn't bother me unless it's seriously outrageous prices like 5.40 for a BOTTLE of miller   ) and doesn't play mainstream bull****, but I've never come across a nightclub that plays 60s 70s music, although, that would be brilliant.

Upstairs at Break for the Border plays a lot of 60s and 70s

    (i) nice clientelle
    (ii) bouncers who AREN'T c*nts
    (iii) good music
    (iv) inexpensive drinks

BTW this sounds like market research to me ;) If you're opening a club, invest in good bouncers with decent personalities who are good at their job!

Anywhere sans skobes. I generally don't give two hoots what music is playing.

I like the music to be a combintation of old and new, where u never quite know what you're gonna hear next :D Also when they remix tunes that in theory shouldn't work - I remember my night out for my birthday last year in The Bowery in waterford, Tommy Boy and Louis were on the decks and they finished the night with 'See My Vest' from the Simpsons - next morning we all couldn't remember whether we dreamt it or whether twas real - good times

im off the drink so dont care about prices..........nice tech house or techno music usually is all i want in a club dont get it that often as its not what my mates are into but aciee disco in the hub temple bar is great for those nights i can persuade them to go to a "rave"

girls who know their music is always a plus but as long as their not "OMG did you see fionn with that slapper????? she didnt even have doobs" ill be happy

Music that hasnt been played to death is nice, preferably some electro / house. Can't beat some drinks promos either...

Personally, I'd like to be able to go out when I'm back in Dublin, as a 29 year old professional who's never been in any kind of trouble, without some skanger on a door not letting me in for god knows what reason.

Usually happens when i come home and want to meet up with 5 or 6 of me mates. I hate the implication that 5 or 6 blokes can't possibly behave themselves.

Now, obviously, bouncers ain't the brightest guys in the world. Therefore,it's easily solved by leaving the pub across the road in pairs and going in like that, but what a pain in the arse it is.

tunes tunes, always the tunes. the bernard shaw in portobello is a good bet, and you can skip across to tripod afterwards if you so wish. and the bouncers are pretty cool too

My ideal nightclub wouldn't be full of children and it would play real rock music. Not the crap on offer where I live. I tend to stick with the pub.

Music and music policy only. Commercial sh*te bores me, especially the current RnB trend.
Everything else like cheap drink, good crowd and friendly staff/bouncers are a bonus but you can have all the other three and it'll be crap without decent tunes and a good DJ.

It's the main reason I don't go out clubbing much anymore, there's absolutely nothing in this town that would have me heading out toi it; you really need to travel to Dublin, Belfast or the other regional cities to get decent dance/club music, the places are usually a c*nt to get into and driving home afterwards is a no-no so have to B&B that night.

Irish club owners play it far too safe IMO...obviously there is a mass audience to cater for and more leftfield musical policies don't gel with that, so commercial and crap is what they do to get bodies in the doors. Oddly enough it usedn't be like that, a lot of club owners were willing to take on special nights and stuff but insurance, the drugs scene and a lack of large crowds mean there are less and less places that do anymore, at least at a local level.

I go for the music and to meet friends. So minimal techno and electro.... enough floor space is always helpful. Nothing worse than dancing with someone's elbow in your eye

National Anthem is the time where I let my singing talent shine. It's played at all nightclubs up this end of the country...

I expect the feeling of the aftermath of being mugged and assaulted when I wake up the next day:

The contents of my handbag and all my money are gone.
    I have a sore head.
    I wish it'd never happened.

:D they play the national anthems in my local nightclub!!

What i expect from a nightclub...

    1. Decent prices for drink, along with a few drink promotions!
    2. Good music with a bit of everything!!
    3. FLOOR SPACE!! i hate those clubs who let loads of people in and then you get trampled on, pushed about, stepped on and feckin elbowed!!  (you may have guessed i've experienced this:) )
    4. Nice bouncers, like those who chat ta ya a bit, and dont turn you away for ridiculous reasons!
    5. Places to sit.... high heels hurt after a while you know!
    6. Nice staff, that dont leave you standing for AGES waiting to be served!!
    7. As few scumbags as possible

    And anythin goes after that!

Barcode went through a phase of doin it for about a year a while back, and it sounded like kind of a sh1te type of elevator music!

The amount of people that used to get pi$$ed off when i wouldnt stand up was gas though!

To answer the questions, somewhere that doesnt play the national anthem at the end of the night!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 133 ✭✭not14talk

Dont think ive ever been in a niteclub that played the national anthem at the end. Tho I have been in bars/partys that have and I never sing the national anthem(even tho I know the words) and with me being born in Belfast you can imagen the names I get called by my mates.

Anyway this is what I want from a nightclub
    1. To score
    2. Cheap drink, cant go wrong wit €2/3 a drink(gotta love 21s)
    3. Good Music..Hate when they play old stuff keep it current
    4. Good crowd but not packed..Like able to move on the dance floor and easy to get drinks at the bar
    5. Nice staff

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,129 ✭✭✭Nightwish

    *Rock/metal music
    *Cheap drink
    *Friendly bouncers
    *No skangers
*No 15 year olds with fake ID's
    *Room to move
*Sufficient bar staff, so I don't have to wait 15 mins to get a drink

I've yet to find this nocturnal utopia. The closest I get to this is a metal gig.

oh and a good sandwich....you never get that these days.
