Hi I just built a system but my processor is only showing 1600mhz in windows, it should be running at 2.4ghz.

I'm using the Gigabyte GA-965P-DS4 motherboard

    Any Ideas ?

You probably have Speedstep enabled Intel's power management feature that clocks down the CPU when idle.

Do something which stresses the CPU like compressing an archive with WinRAR or encoding video and then run CPU-Z and see if the clock speed is at it's proper speed.
