Jammed Disc Drive

    Hello,

The DVDRW drive on my computer is jammed!
When I press the eject button, there is no light and the tray doesn't come out.
I can open it with a paperclip in the little emergency eject hole,
When I push the button then, it closes quickly, and won't open again (without the paperclip)

I don't know what to do about it, basically, any suggestions?

    It's a Dell Dimension 3000 btw

    Is this your PC ,

    http://reviews.cnet.com/Dell_Dimension_3000_Celeron_2_4_GHz_256_MB_RAM_40_GB_HDD/4505-3118_7-31077378.html

If so , then your best bet is to replace the drive , they are only about 35 euro , this one here is pretty good ,

Your drive sounds to be mechanically faulty and because a replacement is so cheap it really isnt worth fixing.
Replacing a drive is easy , and needs no software drivers or anything.

Yeah, new drive, or take the current one apart to see what's wrong with it (sounds harder than it actually is).

I could not open my dvd drive ,so i took it out from the pc for 5 weeks, then put it back in ,now it works fine.Could have been static electricity or something.PEATS have samsung dvdrw drives 40euro.It would not open with a paper clip either.

Have you tried rebooting the computer? Occasionally my DVD drive will stop responding and on reboot it works fine. It is the child of the devil.
