I got one of those wireless remote controllers the other day, this isn't Canon's three figure offering - this one is made in Korea and would look better in a dolls house than in a camera bag. But hey! it works also has a wired option included as well.
It cost me something like £50 Stg and looks like it could be manufactured for about €3 maybe less
looking at the reciever part that plugs into the three prong port on the camera, it's surprising that none of the big reviewers have ever noted that it would take very little design to incorporate this item into the camera body (or have they?) I realise that the camera manufactures probably have no interest in doing this because they're happy flogging a really bad setup at a huge price. maybe there's no big demand for a proper remote system that would be good value and in pace with the rest of the technoligical advances that have come about in the recent past.
what kind of remote solutions are others using?
    ok i'll stop now
    :)

I use the official Nikon wireless remote, acquired from ebay for about €15 :) The receiver is built in (IR eye) to the camera - D50. Coincidentally, the Nikon remote also looks like it could have been manufactured for less than €3.

i noticed for the lower end models they have the IR built in, but for some reason the higher feature rich models don't - strange huh?

the one i got is called a Twin1 made by Seculine i've only used it at close ranges so far, but they claim that it'll do around 20 yards i think
heres a website that has a review about it
