    Hi folks,

    I'm about to buy this - http://www.thomann.de/ie/zoom_g21u_guitar_fx_pedal.htm

Before I do, would anyone recommend an alternative, or is this value for monies?

It's just for messing at home. It comes with Cubase and also has an integrated drum machine.

    Appreciate your thoughts...

    EDIT: Ahhh..just saw this now - http://www.thomann.de/ie/behringer_vamp_set.htm

No Cubase or drum machine, but the headphones would be handy and it's €40ish cheaper....

Personally I wouldnt touch any Zoom product. If you dont want to spend much though then it would prob be fine but for about 200-250 you could prob find yourself a nice second hand Boss GT6

that's certainly true of the older zoom stuff, but the g2 is alot better than previous models. i have one and it's perfect for bedroom use, the drum machine is useful and you can record via a usb cable

alternatively try the new digitech rp250 or 350, i've heard good things about them and you get software to edit patches on your computer

im on the zoom bashing bandwagan too, but never tried the g2 though

Well...I'm after reading a ganzi load of reviews and they all praised it highly....

Can you give some detail as to why you 'bash' the zoom products?

Without commenting on this product in particular,

Zoom might come under flak because a lot of what they've made in the past has been crappy.

If pro (ie publication) reviews praise it highly, go for it. If its just Harmony-Central user reviews that praise it, take them with a pinch of salt.

yea, it was the harmony-central ones, and also ultimate-guitar had a load of good reviews.....

I think I'll get it. I'm no pro, so I'm sure I'll get some kicks out of it. ..

On a different note......I was going to wait another month or so before purchasing the guitar (no, I do have another 'crappy' electric to play around with), but I've decided I'm going to buy it all together.

I can only afford around the 400 mark (now that I'm getting the g2), so I think this is the one...http://www.thomann.de/ie/fender_mex_std_strat_blk.htm

Although I'd like a lighter coloured fretboard, I can't find one for that price

just there other products, never liked them, just not for me,

but like i said the g2 never tried it, i heard a few good reviews on it too, but thats that really

Do not buy the Behringer what ever you do!
I think you should look into a Digitech Rp150, much better imo.

    thanks for that..

The RP250 is the same price as the Zoom G2.1. Appreciate all the feedback - plenty of varied opinions, and any online reviews I've read praise them both.....might just have to flip a coin, or decide on which I think looks nicer!.

    Thanks again!
