Apparently Brian has retired from all cricket.

A day of resignations then, with duncan giving up the ghost as well.

A great individual talent but its no real coincidence that the WI suffered their worst period in history while he was playing for them.

    Ah yes. Solely.

As I said in the WI - Bangladesh match thread...

Going back to Lara as a leader of men, I lost all respect for him when he selfishly got 400* in that test against the English last tour. The way that was played out, he didnt care for the match or series situation, just "his" world record that Matthew Hayden stole from him 6 months earlier.

When he got to 200, I remember the commentators at the time mentioned how boring the game was getting. Utterly predictable and false. It wasn't about winning or losing a test match, it was all about Lara getting in and chasing 380

Great talented batsman, of that there is no doubt, but his own selfishness is a trait I do not like. Some might say the worst West Indies captain.

No worse then what KP did today, got his 100 then had enough and went back to the dressing room.

Class player, and will be a huge loss to the gamee. If he wasnt good enough to be captian, its windies fault for sticking with him.

Eng needed over 9 an over just before KP was dismissed so he had to go for big shots, sure he brought up his ton with a six. So you cant accuse him of being selfish.

And yeah it was the WI fault for sticking with Lara. He had several spells as captain and has been unsuccessful during each one. But they'res no one doubting his class as a batsmen. I mean all time top run scorer in tests says it all.
