Ive been trying to use orb to stream from my tv card. I am finding it very slow (Also slows my pc's down as well). Any other software out there i could use?

Can you give more details on exactly what you are streaming and what capability you would like? Is it live TV or recorded shows?

MythTV (linux backend only, frontends for OS X and Windows)
    GBPVR
    Mediaportal
Windows MCE (only with a supported media extenders though)

Are you using a wireless link? What kind of client machines are in use?

blimey mate, didnt realise it would be this complicated!! Yes, streaming live tv (from ntl cable analougue) via a HVR 900 tuner. I am running vista on one laptop which i was going to use to stream and XP on the other laptops. I have a wireless router but the streaming laptop is connected via cable to router.

Its complicated because everyone setup and needs are different.

MCE is next to useless for your anyway. Im guessing you want to stay with windows, what you are looking for is a client/server setup so you can try:

    GBPVR
    Mediaportal

Now to be frank, I haven't dealt with these in about six months as I have been plugging away with MythTV. Around that time they had alomst completed their networkability portions if you will. My advice, (and im pretty sure yo plan doing this anyway) is to research both solutions as much as you can and see which suits your needs best. Off the cuff, GB-PVR is much less resource intensive.

These are you best bet with windows.

Be sure to keep us updated on your progress!

/edit here is a TV server tutorial fro MediaPortal that I came across while glancing on the website. Ive been meaning to follow up on these two projects, but I haven't found the time.

Im finding orb is working fine now if I use my desktop (Pentium 4 3.2ghz CPU) to stream from. No breaks ups on the laptops around the home using wireless network.

i was using webguide for this:

    http://www.asciiexpress.com/webguide/,
worked fine, but was limited by the network (or a lack of compression with dvr-ms files)
