    Hey Folks.

Im havin some trouble with me media centre pc at the mo... maybe someone can point me in the right direction?

Ive just installed vista home premium on my media centre (elonex artisan, x1600 pro hdmi gfx card, 250gb HDD, 2gb ram etc) but i cant get the bloody thing to display anything aboce 640X480 over HDMI, when i set the res to 1366x768 it will display it for about 2 seconds then the screen goes blank.

i would switch to VGA connection but my telly is a sharp lc37ga8e and only displays 1024x768 over VGA, and you need to stretch the picture to get it to fill the screen.

ive reinstalled the card drivers, removed and reinstalled catalyst, tried forcing different settings thru powerstrip but i just cant seem to get it workin.

It was working just fine when i was runnin MCE 2005, but is fupped since i moved to vista.

Any help would be much appreciated,
    Thanks In Advance.
    SW.

Hmm tricky one indeed most likely driver & Vista related as Vista works in a different manner to XP when to comes to displays or specific to the HDMI card you have what make was that Sapphire ?

A manually created INF using Powerstrip might be worth a go & replace the monitor driver with the custom INF (what I would try first)

Here's an idea create an monitor driver INF under XP using the HDMI connection with Powerstrip, replace the monitor driver in XP and verify it still works now boot into Vista and use the new monitor INF with it and see if the higher resolutions now work.

Google results how a fair number of issues with HDMI due to the drivers no doubt. One tip I saw from another Sharp HDTV owner was "in LCD under HDMI options I set audio to "No" instead of "Digital" now" & the audio goes through analogue and that enabled that display for him.

Sapphire have a sticky thread on display resolutions not supported under Vista in their forum with suggestions to untick the read EDID data which might be worth a go though I would ignore the suggestions about setting the refresh rate to high it should be no greater than 60Hz I think.
