A must have for all Gamers.. ( i got a playstation 2 lately just to play this game)

    Hope for your comments:D

I have seen very little of Ico... I only seen a friend play Shadow and i got Hooked and needed to play this game

I bought it at launch but didn't get around to playing it until only last week.... I got Psychonauts the same day I bought Colossus and it grabbed my attention over it...

But I'm really enjoying it now whenever I get the chance to play it...

    I love Ico too.

Some people may find Ico slow..so it wouldn't appeal to everyone no. Visually though it's a stunning game. I've seen several reviews where they've said it may be one of the most beautiful games ever made.

It was originally pretty much overlooked when it hit the shelves. So the original copies go for a few quid on ebay. It was however rereleased last year. So it shouldn't be too hard to find.

Cool cool ill pick that up somewhere

I agree about SotC, it's easily one of the very best games I've ever played and it's one I can see myself breaking out again many years down the line.

Ico, I'm not quite such a fan of. It's a beautiful game and it's setting is incredible and Yorda is probably the most wonderfully animated character I've ever seen in a computer game, but in terms of gameplay there really isn't any. It's lots of basic puzzles that you just solve with simple trial and error. I wouldn't put it on the same level as SotC at all, but it's still something everyone should try just because of the great atmosphere in the game.

Don't be expecting anything like SoTC though! Totally different thing. I'd nearly see it as more a piece of art than a game.

Hmm just reread my post and there's a lot of over the top superlatives in there. But in the case of these games, it really is true.

...I really feel like I'm missing something huge now. Right. SoTC goes to the top of my to buy list. Although I have Twilight Princess coming in the post next week..so I won't be getting around to it for a while!

I have already finished twilight Princess its also a great game but i think i could only paly it once. SotC is by far a better game just because of its replay value in my view

Ico, the first game that actually made me care about a character, Yorda, every time I had to leave her, as I climbed, swung or ran to solve some puzzle at the far side of a large room, or another room altogether, I always feared hearing her call as the dark things got a hold of her, and then the frantic run back to rescue, incredible.
Also, the atmosphere, I live in the fair countryside of North County Dublin, and as I leave my house in summer, the sounds of the birds calling and the sun bleaching the trees with light, I honestly am called back to similar moments in Ico, it's a work of art.
SOTC, on the otherhand, while also stunning on an artistic level, the best horse and rider ever in any media, it conjures up not a sense of companionship but an incredible sense of isolation as you face your task alone, only your horse to provide company, and the major emotion is the sense of loss and guilt as you slay another Colossus.

Now you don't get that playing Doom!

ICO & SotC are easily 2 of the best games ever released on any platform, nevermind jsut the ps2.
SotC jsut had so mant stand out moments. The 2 flying colossi were absolutely incredible. It blew me away more thany any 'next gen' experience so far, be it on PC or 360 or what. The horse riding was just so enjoyable. I'd just ride around the field outside the main tower for ages.
When agro falls off the collapsing bridge at the end of the game, was completely heartbreaking. Felt like Atreyu in the never ending story when his horse is drowning in the swamp!!

I *loved* Twilight Princess, but really, really, seriously get SOTC (Smyths sell it, I think it's currently in their "2 for €50" offer). It's just that damn good.

IIRC originally they weren't going to put any enemies in ICO.

Both games proceed a pace that's all their own. Not quite designed for the MTV generation. Rarely will you find yourself screaming "EXTREME!!!" whilst playing them. :D

    Beautiful games.

True, one doesn't say gnarly or groovy either, although the section of Ico with the windmill, I jumped for the sheer of it into the pool below many times, "EXTREME!!!!!!!!" moment there indeed.

If there was one game that I'd heard about which would have tempted me to buy a PS2 it was this one. Out of curiousity does it run on the PS3? Now that I have said static attracter I'm tempted.

Yes, both Ico and SOTC work on the PS3.

Nope, no upscaling or anything fancy done to the PS2 games

but it works in progressive scan mode, which gives to the visuals a bit of polish.

Started playing this over the weekend and all I can say is "Wow!". What an amazing game. Twilight Princess is currently on hold.

I'm trying to pace myself with this one. Not the kind of game you want to blast through in a couple of days.

I just turned on progressive scan (completely forgot about it til i read your post..d'oh!) and yeah, it looks beautiful now. Played it for a few hours yesterday, kille colossi 8,9,10 & 11...i love this game so much, ive already finished it twice on the ps2, playing it now on the ps3 on an HDTV it just looks gorgeous and plays better than most supposed 'next gen' games.

SotC is still a niche title, simply not enough aliens and space marines shooting big gun and shouting "YARRGH" at each other, well maybe next time they can slip a few in, broaden the demographic ;)

Yea, well i havent bought it yet but i got it on extended load from a freind for about 2 months. Honestly felt sad giving it back to him.

A masterpiece. prolly the ps2's most overlooked game after ico.
