Hi guys, i applied for a temp job in the revenue for the summer (between years in college) but last summer i had a clerical job with another company which ended in disaster, and i don't have it down on my cv.

Legally speaking, can the revenue view my previous employers without my consent?

Only because it's the revenue commissioners, i know they have the ability to check in a split second and i don't want them to ask me in an interview about it. I'd rather just forget that whole time!

So are they allowed look at your employment record?

I would highly doubt it. That is confidential information irrespective of the fact that they essentially hold it, and it would be unethical for them to use it in the selection process.

I figured it'd be unethical alright -but there's a difference between unethical, and what's done in practice! (if i had access to that info and i was in their position i'd probably use it!)

Ah sure i applied anyways, the worst they can do is reject me!!
