Availability of Deltacortril

Hi,
I have a perscription for deltacortril and I'm having difficulty getting in any local pharmacies in the Dublin area. I spoke with the manufacturers and they said there was a shortage but that it should be available in pharmacies now, but i have had no luck.
Anyone experiencing similar problems or know where to get it?

You only have two options really, one is to wait it out; the other is go back to your GP and ask to change your prescription (if necessary). Did the pharamcies give any indication as to when they're expecting more stock, as you probably weren't the first person with this problem...

If the manufactures say there isn't a shortage now, the pharmacy can ring their supplier, and get the stuff - usually within the same day if they're bothered.

deltacortril is just prednisolone by the by, which is a corticosteroid. If a pharmacist doesn't have an alternative to this in their place - begorra. I think usually deltacortril is covered in a substance so it doesn't release it in your belly, and instead starts releasing in the bowels, as in some cases it can cause ulcers and other bad things. To be honest though any pharmacist should be able to tell you these things, and offer a solution to the problem. Try more pharmacists.

Thanks for the replies.
The pharmacy gave me prednisolone, but as it is uncoated, it didnt agree with my stomach at all, so I really need the coated deltacortril. I will widen my search and hopefully find a help pharmacy.

surely one of the large chain pharmacies, like boots, could get it for you quicker. I imagine their suppliers don't wanna piss them off, as they now hold such a big chunk of the drug market over here.

I was on Deltacortril / Prednisolone for a few months and never had any problems obtaining it from a pharmacy here in Naas. I don't know if that is ideal for you however.

Deltacortril is now back in stock from wholesaler to pharmicies.
