Well Krav Maga guys, do you think you'd be up to this indignious Welsh Art ? Not trying to say for a second that KM is one of these makey uppy 'Martial Arts' that copied a few techniques from Karate,TKD,judo,Wrestling etc and hey presto - you've got the 'deadliest self defence system EVER devivsed' that Can Transform ANY MAN (Or Woman) Into A Walking, Breathing Weapon Of Mass Destruction. :eek:

I LIKE the way the KEYWORDS are in CAPS on that site. It does sort of REFLECT how krav is MARKETED!

Well to be honest, this is yet again another 'Martial Art' marketed as SECRET COMMANDO TRAINING of DEADLY TECHNIQUES, UNBEATABLE COMBAT FIGHTING etc, all yours for only $120.00............... After an afternoon seminar of this YOU WILL BE ABLE TO KILL ANYONE. As Roper sort of agrees " It does sort of REFLECT how krav is MARKETED! "

The bits of it have seen are exactly what I have have described, a handful of Karate,TKD,Boxing, Judo,Wrestling and Aikido and nasty's like eye gouging, small joint manipulation, face bars etc techniques cobbled together into this 'unique fighting system'.

Why single out krav maga guys? It's like these " Ultimate SAS Self Defence Manuals ", with a flick of the wrist..... all the enemy are dead etc.

As for it's effectiveness, well I suppose a Palestinian beating to pulp by several practioners of it in a jewish internment camp could probably best testify to it.

By the way, the Llapgoch thing was actually a spoof created by Monty Python I believe, but it's good crack " You will no longer look pitiful and spotty to your GIRL FRIENDS......They will admire your MASTERY and DECISIVENESS.....and will almost certainly let you put your HAND inside their BLOUSE out of sheer ADMIRATION. not all people teaching krav maga are stating this bull.
i cant see anyone taking anything from karate that is useful?:D

so what your saying is that its a cut down system of combat based on strikes/punches/grappling from other MAs?
thats great as long as its trained properly and its the bits that are effective that were taken?

well its just the name i wanted to use as an example of "the big sell" in an non krav "makey uppy" MA.(karate)
my point being, "the big sell" doesnt = sh1te. its just advertising

" btw..tkd is a clone of karate " 100%. General Choi ( who was credited as the figurehead of TKD) done Shotokan Karate in Japan before World War 2 broke out, and based TKD on it. Later they introudced 'Sine Wave' ( ONLY ITF TKDers will know what that is ) into 'patterns' i.e. kata. Also asked about my "expert" knowledge about MA, boxed in me youth, black belt in TKD (amazing am'nt I !!!!), seen the light thanks to the UFC and do BJJ with Ray Butcher. Apart from that I'm a harmless soul.

To a greater or lesser extent all matial arts are "MAKEY UPPY". Judo is derived from several types of Ju Jitsu. Kyokushin is a combination of Shotokan and Goju, Wado is Shotokan and JuJitsu. MMA is self explanatory.JKD is combined boxing, wing Chun etc.TKD is Shotokan and local Korean kicking arts
It is human nature to seek to improve on existing knowledge and skills and to adapt current knowledge to meet new demands. IMO there is no problem with doing this as long as you are aware of why you are combining different arts and if the final product works for you and others. It is also nice if you give credit to those arts that you used.
