Does anyone know of a thread about a long term downswing discussing how to handle the bankroll and pyschological factors?

9-10 months things really dried up. I dropped down to bottom levels ($10-25 nl); read a few more books; started to study a few hands every day & charted my lack of progress.

Now I grind away to get my bankroll up. I grind and grind, etc. Then I get my money making (EV+) hands obliterated. Back to square one. Vary play; took time off; can laydown big cards on flop/riv resistence etc, etc. blah blah blah.

What I really want to know is it time to go back to pitching haepennies fernenst the gable wall for pints - Or has somebody written a constructive and generally uplifting tale of resurrection. (Please do not direct me to bible).

I think something is needed to get your zest for the game back. Maybe try a different form of the game. Play STT's, MTT's, or even a different game like Omaha, or stud or even razz. Downswings can be hard to take and can knock you for 6 and make you question your whole game.

It might help if you get some reaffirmation that you are playing correctly, so if you want to post some hands to see if you did play them ok (and not just for bad beat one outer value, but more marginal hands) that might help in some way?

playing the io reinvigorated my interest in the game massively. I almost quit prior to it. now I can't wait to get playing again.

maybe go play live, or some decent tournament to get your interest back. taking a break's always goot.

i think the best thing for you is mtt freezouts.

theres great security in knowing you can only lose a buyin when your running bad.

if your playing cash games and on a bad downswing your gonna be dropping buy ins left right and centre.
and when you get a good result in a mtt it always brings a bit of "zest" for the game back and might get you on your way.

but dont hit the cash tables after being put out of a tourny
