    can someone please explain the mysteries of how they do this?

    on 25th Feb I buy AL tickets to Bordeaux departing 16/5, return 25/5
    cost = €65 pp before taxes and etcs :)

    last week cost was €150 or so when i checked it :(

    this Monday I buy a ticket for an extra person who's now coming along
    cost = €30 before extras :)

    today the cost is €199????:confused:

    seems totally random, can anyone shed some light?

    Not sure about the earlier dates, but they had a seat sale with special promotional prices over the weekend and that finished on April 16th (Monday).

    El Stuntman - it's called "yield management"

    The people who book first get the cheap fare. The people who book last minute get the expensive one. It's felt by the airlines that if you book last min you've got no choice but to fork out so you'll pay.

    hmmm, actually in this case the price came down closer to the booking date

    I understand the concept of yield management, it just didn't seem to be applying here

    also airlines may also try to increase the load factor by selling unsold seats at a cheaper rate when it gets increasingly likely that there may be too many empty seats on a certain flight
