This was always going to happen. Unfortunately we have a bit of a wait before the first games. Can't wait for some KoF and Samurai Showdown 2 goodness. I'll be picking up two classic controllers for this :)

    Master of the Universe

Finally! some VC games I'd actually be interested in getting. Don't quite have the money for a Neo Geo AES system. Or, more importantly, the games.

Not that I ever will

    What the fudge is Neo-Geo?

I'm hoping this was well before my time so that I have an excuse not to know this!

Neo Geo was a piece of extremely powerful 2D arcade hardware made by SNK in the very late 80's. It was well ahead of it's time and was still being used until only about 2 years ago. Metal Slug series was on this hardware. There was a home system that used identical hardware but cartridges were very expensive so it only had a cult following. Still it provided arcade perfect games.

So yes you should be ashamed of yourself for not knowing. If you were ever in an arcade the SNK NEO GEO attract tune should be ingrained in your memory.

I'm 15!!! And a perfect mix of a classic Nintendo fan owning/co-owning a SNES, N64, Sega Megadrive, Gamecube, Wii and being a modern player (PS2 - brother is saving for a PS3) AND somebody who isn't a big nerd like you :p

Yes I had to resort to name calling in my embarrassment!

Seriously though, I make gaming cool....

I remember been in spain in early 90s and seeing the Neo Geo system for sale with games in local game shops and the games (cartridges) were the equivalent of £150 each in Irish Pounds and the console was something like £500 Irish pounds... I dont think I ever saw it on sale or its game in Ireland. Even tho it was out around 1992 I remember its 2D capabilities at least for beat em ups seem to be superior to even the Playstation 2. Amazing piece of technology for its time.

I have a few Neo Geo conversions for the Sega Saturn, a 2D powerhouse. Even with the 1MB Ram cart there is slowdown and disappearing sprites in some games like Metal Slug. The Ram cart is essential since the Neo Geo games could handle so many frames of animation. If you look at the last few Neo Geo games like Mark of the Wolves and Metal Slug 3, they look even better than games like Street Fighter 3 on the CPS3 hardware even though the Neo Geo hardware is about 8 years older.
