Problem with scanner

I've a CanoScan LIDE 30 flatbed scanner connected via usb to a Windows XP machine. The device appears in device manager but does not appear to the supplied scanning software. Paint Shop Pro does not see the device either.

I've used the latest driver from Canon and installed/uninstalled several times. Any ideas?

You can download the Canoscan Toolbox from the Canon website when you type in the details of the scanner you have. Maybe that will work with the scanner.

Thanks Ruu, did that. No joy.

Make sure the USB cable at the back of the scanner is pushed in all the way.

It may sound silly but it's something I found when I bought a Canoscan LIDE recently, that the physical design of the USB port can decieve you into thinking the USB cable is all the way in when it isn't.

IF that's what's causing your problem, it's really easy to fix.

I have two of these scanners and neither work on this computer. Works grand on another computer. Changed USB cables also. Must be something to do with TWAIN I think.

Also have a HP PSC 1200 printer/scanner. The scanner on this does not work either. The printer does.
