Minister announces new bus route 151

Route 151 a major service boost for Clondalkin

Dublin Bus has begun delivering a major service improvement for customers in the Clondalkin area and today Minister for Transport Martin Cullen, TD and Dublin Mid West TD John Curran were on hand to officially launch the new Route 151.

Route 151, is a new low floor fully accessible service connecting Grangecastle Business Park in Clondalkin with the Irish Financial Services Centre (IFSC) in the city centre. The introduction of this new route is just one of a number of service improvements resulting from the addition of 100 new buses to the Dublin Bus fleet funded by the Governments Transport 21 Investment Programme.

The service operates every 10 minutes on weekdays and approximately every 15-20 minutes on weekends traveling along the newly opened South Clondalkin Quality Bus Corridor (QBC). The Clondalkin QBC ensures that route 151 has faster journey times and gives a reliable and consistent service.

It serves the Nangor Road, Long Mile Road, Crumlin (The Children’s Hospital), Dolphins Barn, Cork Street (Coombe Women’s Hospital), Christchurch and O’Connell Bridge. In yet another step forward in the move towards a totally integrated public transport system the new route connects with both the Luas and Iarnród Éireann’s new Docklands Station which provides services to Broombridge, Ashtown, Castleknock, Coolmine and Clonsilla.

A spokeswoman for the company said: “The South-West of Dublin has undergone a significant population change in recent years. By introducing the 151, Dublin Bus aims to meet the growing demands for effective public transport that have accompanied this population change”.

Customers can get further information on Route 151 and on Dublin Bus services on (www.dublinbus.ie), or by calling our customer service desk (01) 8734222 08.30 -18.00 hrs., Monday – Saturday.

Dublin Bus continues to be the single largest public transport provider for the Greater Dublin Area, carrying almost 150million passengers each year. In addition to Route 151, Dublin Bus has plans in place expand the number and frequency of services across the entire network with the deployment of the remaining 100 buses. These buses will serve new developing areas and new and existing quality bus corridors
