Does Google Search PDFs

Hi folks - was just wondering whether google searches PDFs or not - does it do a full text search of the PDF or does it just search the filename?

Google can and often do index PDF files. You can often find that they will convert files to a HTML file.

select the text in the pdf,
copy and paste.

If the pdf has text stored in it, google will convert it. Some PDFs are effectively images and the text isn't stored as text, so can't be searched
