Question From a Novice.....

Play poker a bit on betfair at the really small stakes tables. Been doing pretty well but I like to build up notes of bluffers etc. wanted to ask the experts a quick question as i'm still learning the ropes. most of my experience is based on playing a game for a few bob with mates.

on betfair is if you see a player after the 5th community card and you win sometimes they just say you've won and don't show you his cards. Its annoying if you feel someone's trying to buy the pot and you beat him with only an alright hand as you don't know what he was betting with. Is paddy power like this? also when two people go all in they turn over the community cards before showing you each players 2, again if you win you mightn't even get to see the other lads. When we play amongst ourselves we always show our cards after going all in and the way I look at it I paid to see yer man's cards, I should see em.

thanks in advance and apologises for the probable stupid question!!!

Most sites allow players to muck (not show) hands that don't win. You can get around this by going into the Hand History window which should be available if you click the right link or button on your poker client window. I don't play betfair so I don't know where exactly it is, but it should be fairly easy to spot I'd imagine. The Hand History window will allow you t osee all hands that went to showdown, including ones that you did not get to see at the table.

But even on all-ins, it doesnt have a "show-down". which is annoying.

In cash games cards don't have to be turned over until the end when a player is all in, and even then the losing player can muck them. In tournaments when a player is all in before the river and there is no more betting, then all cards are turned over before the turn/river is dealt.

Paddy power lets you check the hand histories to see mucked cards. Not sure about betfair. I might be wrong but i think poker tracker can get around this on some sites that don't let you see.
