    Hi

I was just wondering how would I go about running apache as a service on windows server 2003?

apache has been installed already so I just need to set it up to run as a service

    thanks

Are you sure it's not already running as a service?

When you install apache, it automatically creates the apache service, but gives you the option whether to run it automatically or manually. Do you know which was chosen when it was installed?

Its definitely not running as a service.
I also dont think it had that option to run automatically or manually as a service due cos its an older version.
    Apache 1.3.9

Most likely IIS is running on your W2k3 server, in which case the automatic service install of Apache would have failed because it uses port 80 as the default (which is already used by IIS)

I don't know about the link that seamus posted [possibly because he linked to version 1.3], but I know that I've done it on W2k3 systems using:

    http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/platform/windows.html#winsvc

Good point GS, I didn't think of that.
