Anybody know how to do this? is there a diy way or must I get a solicitor.
At the moment the house is in my name only so I want to put it in myself and my wife's names

talk to a solicitor; pretty painless...a formal document of transfer from you to 'you and the wife' needs to be drawn up and lodged with the land registry

Any idea what a solicitor would charge for this?

If you dealt with them in buying the house they should do it as a goodwill gesture. Probably won't, but there is very very little work required.
