Sky HD Technical Fault

    Hi,

I'm just wondering if anyone who has a Sky HD box has noticed the increase in frequency of the following error message being displayed:

"There is a technical fault with this channel please try again later" Error no. 14

I never used to get this error message I appear to be getting it now at least once a week on channels 301 and 302 "Sky Premier" and "Sky Premiere +1".

I've rang Sky and they are sending someone out but I'm just wondering if anyone else has been getting it as it seems to have only started since the switch over / re-branding of the movie channels.

Yes, I too have Sky HD and had this same problem, except i had it with Sky Movies HD2. I done a forced software download on the box, This got rid of the problem. (Twice it reoccured the next day) But after the third forced download i have not had the problem since.

FORCED SOFTWARE DOWNLOAD: turn off box at wall, ie cut power, Press backup button on front of hd box(or top of box) Keep backup button pressed, turn on power at wall, keep backup pressed until you see the software download message on your tv screen.

Thanks, I'll do that. I did get the same message on one of the HD movie channels also.

Has your box also been making a lot of noise (fan) even though it's in stand by? I wouldn't notice it only that I have a HD box in the bedroom!

Dunno why it turns itself on - still on standby though and you can hear a hard drive noise a slight "clicking". It stays on for about 30 - 60 mins then stops and all is quite again! I don't have it in a cabinet but there is a DVD player on top of it - the sides where the vents are - free from obstruction.

I have one downstairs too which is completely free from obstruction -same thing happens only that I notice the one upstairs more so as it's in the bedroom!

Fan noise is not an issue for me. I did read on other forums that the powering on and off from wall can solve fan problems. Having the HD Box in bedroom, you will have issues with Sky Anytime downloading programs at night. The box will be recording event though you have not set recordings. Maybe try turning off anytime for a few days to see if this makes a difference. (In Services menu)

Ive seen the same issues with my HD box , since the software upgrade(s) there are a lot of issues , 50% of the time when I go into sky anytime I get the " technical fault " or service not available message.
Box office and premier channels showing up the technical fault message also , and lately , watching a program while its recording , which you used to be able to do ( in order to skip ads etc. ) crashes the recording , especially if its a HD channel ( I was watching lost on SkyHD 1 ).
