I managed to delete a folder which contained around 5gigs of photos. As the file was too big for Recycle Bin it asked should it permanetly delete it, I stupidly said yes.

This is probably gone for good but on a slim chance that there might be a way of recovering it: does anyone know any program that might be able to recover them?

I've used this program on a fair number of occasions and everytime I have got information back 100%.

GetDataback for NTFS. I take it your using NTFS.....but they also handle other formats.

go to www.pcinspector.de download a free powerful file recovery program.if photos are important to you dont download/files games ,install programs onto the same partition where the photos are as you may overwrite the photo sectors/data on the hd.Try read the manual online before you do anything .

Do not download or install anything on machine that has files deleted.
If you do you may overwrite the deleted files space.
Ideally if you could share drive to another computer with tools installed it would make life easier.

I am not allowed discuss …

install slave drive d,into pc even 5gig drive.USE that to install, download the file recovery programs onto.leave drive c:\ unused except for loading windows.its probably safe to copy photo folder to slave drive, if it is visible in windows explorer.did you have system restore switched off when the files were lost.

Used GetDataback for NTFS and it found loads of photos but there doesn't seem to be anyway of saving enmass. The copy button is only for the paid version. Any suggestions?

any of the "pay" recovery utilities i've seen will tease you by letting you see what they can recover for you for free, but you gotta pay to actually recover them...upto you to decide if the data is worth it or not, or check out the free alternatives suggested allready..
