winXP Boot Problem

    Hi,
I have a laptop with only a 20Gb hard drive and I was running both winXP and FreeSpire on it. Due to lack of space I decided to get rid of FreeSpire but in doing so I got rid of GRUB and hey presto could no longer boot windows. I managed to find another program called GAG (Graphical Boot Manager http://gag.sourceforge.net/) which helped me out but its really clunky looking.

Anyone know how to restore winXP's own boot process or know of a different boot manager thats not as ugly as GAG that I can use?

    Thanks in advance,
    J.

Boot from the XP cd and enter the recovery menu. You can then use fixmbr or fixboot from there.

Never got a XP disc with the laptop. I could send it off etc but they are so slow to get things done.

    Also have no floppy drive.

Get a standard boot CD (like http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/) that will get you to a DOS prompt and type fdisk /mbr. This will get rid of the grub and all of your data will still be intact.

Yeah that should also work or Hirens Boot CD should also do the trick.
