NTL not broadcasting RTE in widescreen.

I'm with ntl digital and two weeks ago rte went back to 4.3 ratio. Rang ntl, they said I should adjust my tv settings. I replied tv was set to receive widescreen automatically and if it was my tv the other channels would go back to 4.3 ratio. They refused to accept the problem was at their end.
I argued and said I wanted to speak to whoever was in charge, to which I was told the supervisor was busy. She took my number and said she would ring back but of course it never happened.
In the past whenever I have had a problem with ntl I had found them to be helpful but the customer service this time was very poor indeed.
Furthermore I've since checked my friend's tv and her's goes out of widescreen and into zoom. Is anybody else having this problem with widescreen transmittance?

The NTL digital box has the option to change the screen ratio. You go into menu, using the remote control.

I noticed it really affects certain tvs a lot, but usually most of the newer ones do it automatically, if not sure you just go into the options and set it yourself....

i've noticed this over the past couple of months... RTE1 and 2 both don't revert to Widescreen when viewing certain channels before hand... if it's the same thing i'm seeing, the RTE logo in the top right is cut off.

There's a couple of things to Try (but before you do, make sure your STB is set to output in Widescreen)

    1) Swtich to SkyNews on 202 and then go back to RTE1/2
    2) Reboot the box (Help, and then the yellow button)

either of the above normally reverts the pic back to widescreen. if neither work, make sure the TV hasn't changed the ratio automatically.
Other than that, you may need to get your STB replaced.

Did exactly as you said and it hasn't made a difference. I even turned the auto setting on the tv to off. I already had the stb set to widescreen and my sony tv set to auto receive widescreen signal, as hate stretched pictures on non widescreen channels. By the way I live in the Waterford area. All the other widescreen channels are fine so it's nothing to do with the tv. My friend is also having the same problem and we checked her settings, which were all set to wide. A lot of people have their tv set to widescreen so maybe don't realise when a programme isn't being broadcast in that ratio.
Fighting a loosing battle here with ntl as they won't accept it's on their side, probably only a matter of flipping a switch.

I have much the same problem with NTL. It is on their side but I don't expect them to ever admit it...
