Very nice, I have seen them going up and wondered what the view was like. Great present

    Thanks. :)

The fact that it was a new experience meant the photographs weren't the main priority. I'll throw up a few more wnen I get a chance. There were some great sights that are not on film. My favourite was a fox running ror a few hundred yards along the edge if a field, darting in and out of hedgerows. I have a few shots but the focus is crap.

I'm surprised the "Busy Fields" one on Flickr has had no comments. I think it is my favourite. It reminds me of a shot from that book "The World from the Air". I find that a lot. For some reasom the ones I like most are often ignored on Flickr. What does that say I wonder?

I was going to comment on it but my web went down. The detail is amazing, so many tracks goingin different directions all centered around the gate. It must have been early in the morning the pictures have that magic hour look to them!

Valentia - When was your trip? Reason I ask is that on Easter Sunday I saw a balloon in the sky on the way from Johnstown to Kentstown. And it was a great evening too.

I had one of these trips years ago, got it as a surprise for the gf's birthday. Such a tranquil way to travel, there's no noise at all (apart from when the pilot fires that sucker up!). It was down near Baltinglass and the light that evening was pretty special. Even though I was only starting out on serious photography, those pics are still some of the best I have.

Busy Fields is cool, very Yann Arthus Wossface, the "Earth from the Air" guy.
Still trying to make out what's on the Field of Corn pic, dried out soil?

    B.

Anyone know of a contact or website where I can arrange a flight. I've always wanted to do this

That's who I was with yesterday and the balloon on the front page is the same one as well. The biggest balloon in Ireland.

Funny you should mention that book Benster, that's exactly what I was thinking about when I was flying. I was looking for patterns. It's an amazing book but when you are up there you realise that there are a million photos to be taken. It was a bit hazy yesterday but on a clear crisp morning I'd imagine you could get some powerful shots.

The corn field has been set for corn and needs to be seen in the large version. I was informed by Gerry Baker , a farmer who was with us. His daughter, Pauline, was co-pilot. She has 8 world records for ballooning. There is info on the site about her records.

I have loads more photos, mostly standard stuff but I just haven't the time at the minute to do anything with them. I rushed those up because I promised the people on the flight that I'd get something up last night before going to bed.

All that is left now is to pass a few dozen hints for future Christmas and birthday presents!! They take off from Trim by the way, right next to the castle.

That would be my worst nightmare I think. I would have been jibbering in the corner..

I don't have time to look properly now (Its 00.40 and I still have about two hours work to do  ) but they look amazing. Beautiful.
