Cleaning Brick Driveway

Looking for suggestions on cleaning a brickwork driveway. The driveway was laid about four years ago and is red and grey brickwork with sand.

There is a fair bit of weed coming through and moss has started to appear in the crevaces. I have been doing a little reading and have decided to use a heavy duty weed killer and rent a powerwash to clean the stone.

I imagine the powerwash will remove some sand from the the bricks and maybe loosen them...would brushing fresh sand over the driveway be advisable afterwards?

    Any advice appreciated,

    Thanks

Yep, the sand creates a frictional bond between the bricks so removing it with a powerwasher can cause your bricks to move.

Try and get a rotating brush attachment for the powerwasher, it will be more efficient at cleaning and less destructive.

When the driveway is completely dry (inculding in between the bricks) brush in some kiln dried sand. Try and avoid driving on the paving before you replace the sand.
