Spraying wing mirrors-hard?

I am buying 2 wing mirror casings from a local dealer. 39 euro each. They come primed, so my choice is either to pay 50 euro per casing (cheapest quote I could get anywhere) or go to Halfords with my paint code from my car and get a spray made up. My question is, has anyone ever done work like this with Halfords or similiar paint, and is it easy enough to do. The last thing I want to end up with is mirrors that don't match the car colour properly. Do I need to buy lacquer or anything to seal it also?
    Comments appreciated.

Aerosol spray jobs never have the quality of finish that a proper paint job can give. It depends on how fussy you are really. Most metallic paints are two pack - one paint and one lacquer. If you reckon you can do it then go ahead, but if you are in any way unsure then spend the €100 and get them done professionally.

Yeah, thats the thing. I'd be fussy enough, and if it worked out as a half assed job, I'd be always noticing it, and would probably get them properly done. Just thought it might be an easy enough job to get it done looking right. Guess I'll bite the bullet and fork out the monkey for it.

Unless you spray VERY evenly you will end up with varying thickness of paint - and possible drips which will look awful. The first time I tried it ended up a complete disaster (on the wing of my old 1980 Golf). When I eventually got it right it still looked slightly off colour and the texture was different too. Since then I always get painting done professionally.

I did my wing mirrrors on my old Merc but only cos it was in 040 flat black, they came out really well. Sand-down, grey primer, 040 black and lacqure.
