    hi guys,

i want to upgrade my RAM but know very little about it.

    I currently have this TwinMOS PC3200 DDR-DIMM 1024MB CL2.5 KIT , w/two matched PC3200 512MB DDR DIMM's.

i now want to get 2 gigs of ram as in 2*1024, but don't know what and how much differences are between DDR DIMM and DDR2 and PC3200 to PC9200?

just for info, my processor is an AMD 3500 and GPU is a X1950PRO

as there are pretty big variations in price, are there big variations in performance?

    thanks for your help

Well for a start pc9200 is ddr2. Your cpu and motherboard will only support ddr.

So the fastest ram you will be able to get is pc3500/pc4000/pc4400. Back in the day faster ram was available, but it as rare ar rocking horse crap these days.

http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=312362 <-- will be your best bet. it pc4000. I actually have a set of this myself, and is great ram, for overclocking. But you will see no performance increase if you only get 1gb,, with 2gb you will see some improvement.

http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=309659 This will probably do you just as well. But for the small bit of extra money, i would go with the first lot of ram.

The best value is the Corsair 2GB kit Anti linked to, the Twinmos kit doesn't really offer anything extra over it.

If you want to save a bit of money get this €83 Twinmos 1GB kit to supplement your existing Twinmos RAM and bring it up to 2GB.
