Haven't looked too deeply in to this, just stumbled across it now. Could be interesting, i like the character of the Hulk, and despite a poor ending, i thought the Eric Bana movie a couple years ago was actually entertaining enough

Odd casting. Although Norton's been putting in some appalling performances as of late. Probably needs to raise his profile again.

Do we really need another Hulk movie? And a remake/reboot at that. If Ang Lee can't do it right then what makes them think the director of The Transporter can?

I thought Norton had more respect for himself that this so I hope this isn't true.

I'm a fan of Norton.. but not of The Hulk. So hopefully this new one will change my opinion.

Ang Lee was never the right man for The Hulk - a no-nonsense action director is exactly what's needed.

The Ang Lee motion picture event was truly a dreadful experience. I like to keep my arthouse and blockbusters seperate - if I go to see a superhero film, I want muchos kicking of arse, if I go to see the latest critically acclaimed 'masterpiece', I expect deep reflections on life and the like. The two do not mix.

But Im glad they are giving the Hulk another chance. Not a big fan of him as a superhero myself, but there is the possiblity for some great action moments. They do need to bring back Jennifer Connelly though. Made the original that much more bearable.

They've got a new actor, director, script-writer, and an entirely new special effects company to produce an entirely new Hulk.

I loved the first one; and I'm the only person I know on earth who did. I'm not really a big fan of most superhero films, but Hulk was plenty colourful and took the effort to explain itself instead of "The spider was genetically engineered so obviously the guy is able to shoot huge jets of web from holes in his wrists.

Actually forget that last one - I'm just nit-picking there.

Most important of all though, it's supposed to be called "The Incredible Hulk".

That alone earns it a watch from me.

Leterrier is a nobody so I suspect Norton will throw his weight around on this and get all the creative control.

Will he just make Bruce Banner into a Tyler Durder that turns green?

from what ive read on this marvel want and action film. last i heard its meant to be a smackdown between hulk and abomination. nortons a surprisingly good actor to be linked to whats basically a fightfest.

im surprised they decided to do a reboot though, the first hulk got all the angst out of the way so the sequel shouldve been a fighfest anyway. and hey i loved the ang lee hulk too. some surprising depth in it and the format of using comic pannels on the screen worked very well. the hulks pretty much the only marvel character thats metaphysical enough to go the whole dark tortured route lee took and while its not perfect i cant help thinking most people aversion to it is its not the TV show or some stupid sterotypical "superhero" movie. its based on the comic and thats a pretty psychological book.

that said it could be fun. and hell if theyre gonna do a reboot set the thing in the 60s and use the classic gamma bomb origin. not everything has to be set in the modern age you know.

I thought it was going to be a complete reboot but it seems it's not, it's just an unofficial sequel of sorts. They aren't doing the origin story again but they won't be making too much reference to the first film either. Kinda like Superman Returns I guess.

My big problem with the Ang Lee film was the cgi/Hulk scenes seemed very mismatched with the dramatic/Bruce Banner scenes. One minute you have Banner dealing with his father problems and next it's the invincible green giant jumping through the desert, taking on the entire army, getting nuked, etc. It felt like two different movies, trying to appeal to two different audiences with disastrous results.

I quite liked the Bruce Banner stuff, it was the Hulk scenes I found boring. I mean, he's invincible, yeah I get it.

But I was never much of a Hulk fan tbh.

Well I'll certainly go along and see it, providing it doesn't get absolutely slated. In fairness to Norton, who would have thought that Matt Damon would have been good in an 'action' role, but both Bourne movies so far have been excellent, so I'm prepared to give Norton the benefit of the doubt.

On a side note I liked The Transporter and even went so far as to order the german special edition pack which contained both movies.

Liv Tyler is playing the love interest:
Liv Tyler will star opposite Ed Norton in Marvel Studios' "The Incredible Hulk," signing on to play Betty Ross, the longtime love interest of Dr. Bruce Banner/the Hulk. Louis Leterrier is directing the movie, which is being produced by Avi Arad, Gale Anne Hurd and Kevin Feige.

Ross, a classic "Hulk" character from the comic book's beginning in 1962, is Banner's fellow scientist and an ally in his quest to rid him of his lurking monster deep inside. The movie will unfold with Ross estranged from Banner (Norton), but with the pursuit of the Hulk heating up and Banner on the run trying to cure his condition, Ross finds herself swept back into his life.

Jennifer Connelly played the character in the 2003 movie "Hulk," directed by Ang Lee.

Filming on the new "Hulk" is slated to begin in the summer in Toronto. Universal Pictures is distributing.

Tim Roth is joining the cast:
Tim Roth will play the Hulk-ish Abomination opposite Ed Norton’s Bruce Banner and Liv Tyler's Betty Ross.

The funnybook Abomination, introduced by Stan Lee and Gil Kane in 1967's Tales To Astonish #90, was a godless Russian who intentionally exposed himself to twice as much gamma radiation as puny Banner absorbed. He became twice as strong as Hulk and twice as fugly. Also, he couldn't change back to Russky alter ego Emil Blonsky.

Louis Leterrier (the “Transporter” movies) directs from a screenplay by Zak Penn (“Elektra,” “X-Men: The Last Stand”).
