    Im new to Ireland and interested in some of the local slang and language used. Can you list some common ones for me.

    One I've heard a lot is 'grand'. Everything in Ireland is grand!!

    Lots of people say yolk as well... not as in egg but to mean "thing". Althought I think it's spelled yoke.
    "What's that yoke for?":D

    I also like the word culchie, which is to describe anyone from outside Dublin I think, a bit like a hillbilly. And press, which means cupboard.

    Also a lot of people use "Go Away" as an answer to a funny/ incredible story or something they might be sceptical about.

    "Ireland beat Australia in the cricket"
    "Go Away!"
