Hi there, I have an iol.ie email address and I'm wondering does anybody know if there's any plans in the future to resurrect the iol brand (I know its owned by bt now). It just gets spammed non stop and I'm using norton antispam but it only catches half the spam. Should I be considering changing my email address? Could iol.ie just closedown one of these days without giving me the change to send a change of email address email ?

Also I"m wondering whats the best option for non web based email address that I could get that wouldn't have as much spam as iol.ie

    Thanks in Advance

    N.N.

Completely the wrong forum for this, but anyway.

Most email addresse will attract spam, and the older the are, the more spam they seem to get (so I find - of course there are exceptions).

As for it closing down - i would doubt it. Most ISP's support their legacy email addresses (indigo ones still work, even though their part of eircom.net now, same as IOL is part of BT). If the plan to switch them off, they tend to give their customers plenty of notice.

When you mean one that's "non-web based", do you mean one that you can use with a client (such as Outlook) etc? If so, gmail works fine with email clients, and the inbuilt spam filter is actually pretty effective on it.
