A small car that isn't small?

I have to get a low cc car (phenomonal insurance premium unfortunately) but I have always hated driving small cars. Any pointers on a late 90's low cc car that isn't a biscuit tin?

you could try a VW polo, or Seat Ibiza

how low do you need to go? a heavier car with a smaller engine will have a lower premium than a small car with the same cc. the premium is worked out taking into account power to weight ratio as well as all the other considerations like gender and the history of a particular model in terms of claims.

i paid 2450 for a 998cc micra when i started out on a provisional. i now (2 years later) pay 1100 on a 1331cc corolla and will be paying 1740 on a 2 litre lexus when i change up.

Was the Honda Jazz out in the late 90's? They are surprisingly big for a small car

The Fiat Stilo is great. Lots of space and 1.2 engine. Good value as well inclusive of extras. Would not change it....

I'm afraid not, the Jazz was launched in 2001.

Ditto, you would pay a bit more for the Polo but for value for money the Seat is an excellent car.

Check around with different insurance companies and alot of them calculate their premiums not just on engine size but other factors such as engine power (bhp). In other words a Ford KA 1.3 may be cheaper to insure than a Ford Fiesta 1.3 despite both having the same engine.

Skoda Fabia comes with a 1.2ltr engine.

Might be an oddball choice, but a Mitsubishi Spacestar 1.3l is very roomy.
Very under-rated capable car - just not everyones cup of tea.
