Does anyone know where I can buy a bottle of Sailor Jerry's spiced rum in Dublin?

I asked in the local offey and they said they can order it in for me but it'll take at least a week to get in. I need it by next Saturday (don't ask).

Searched around for the last hour for a supplier in ireland and i can't seem to find one... I can't help but wonder if your local might have got it mixed up with another spiced rum...

    Would morgan's spiced rum do?

Here's a place in England that will deliver although it will cost you £46.84 (just under €70) with the delivery.

Wow - thanks for your help.

It seems that Harvey Nicks in Dundrum use this rum in some of their cocktails, but they import it from Head Office in England (try their slushy cola cocktail .... hmmmm)

I went down to my local offey just now, and it seems that they order it from Northern Ireland - hence the delay. So I think I'm stumped.

I have no idea if Morgan's is similar or not.

Ive never tried Sailor Jerrys Spiced Rum so i cant really compare... I can say you wont be disapointed by Morgans Spiced though! Really fabulous rum that drinks almost TOO easily! Great for making cocktails, with coke, 7up, fruit juices or even neat.

Maybe someone else here who has tried morgans spiced could give their opinion?
Or maybe even someone has tried both and could compare them?

OP, what does Sailor Jerry's taste like in the cocktail? Hints of vanilla etc?

Thats what I thought, I was looking at the thread name convinced some lad got gee-eyed in a pub and got the name wrong.

Captain Morgan is good rum. Most home distillers make rum since they know the real secrets behind spirits and why rum is the ultimate spirit (no cogener hangover ;) ). On most discussion groups the one they all try and replicate is captain morgans.

Hi, thought I'd report back. The local offey (Deveney's in Dundrum, bless em) ordered 6 bottles, and I picked one up on Thursday. As a rum, it says on the bottle that it is a blend of vanilla, lime, spices and rum.

The reason I wanted to get this rum in particular is because a friend had made a cocktail, which I thought was particularly good, and the recipe called for Sailor Jerrys rum. The cocktail tastes just like Coca Cola (think a cola bottle sweet thingy) - except without the sickly cloying sweetness, etc, etc. I've since discovered that Harvey Nicks in Dundrum have a similar cocktail on their menu. The recipe is as follows:

    Sailor Jerry's Rum
    Ginger Syrup
    Juice of a lime
    Top up with Ginger Beer

I've no idea if Morgan's would do a similar job.

This isn’t a girly rum either - it’s 40% proof. The flavor is really well balanced. It’s sweet but not too sweet, and it’s actually kind of spicy - so you get exactly what it says on the tin (bottle). It is good stuff, especially with the cocktail recipe above.

I find that you just can't get Ginger syrup anywhere. I've tried. But thankfully it's easy to make - just get some Ginger and slice it up, and boil it in sugared water. Or just buy some Ginger cordial from Avoca :-) You can get Ginger Beer from Marks and Spencers - otherwise it can be difficult to get. Use a ratio of 3:1 for the rum and the ginger syrup. Top up with the Ginger Beer. Yum!

I reckon Morgan's would do the job, sounds very similar.

That's nice of Devenys, especially if there is no Irish supplier.
