As promised. I'll get the ball rolling with one I've had hanging around for a while. However I -did- spend this-morning rocking backward and forward on my heels trying to focus on an ant's ass* with my lens mounted backward on my camera so expect my astonising evocative winning entry when I get 'round to developing the roll and scanning it in :-)

*the ant was in a dandelion so it's in the remit

The devil is in the details

Ah they're not cheesy at all! I like them!

How about this one - way off focus I know and I was just messing about, but I actually shouted at the monitor when it loaded up. I couldn't have got the vaseline lens thing going if I'd been trying  This is an extra mature stilton of a shot.

I got some quite good stuff out my garden yesterday - my apple trees have finally decided to blossom - but I haven't taken them off the camera yet.

Woah, you're right about the vaseline! Love that green in the bottom right there too.

I can't believe you have pictures on your camera that you haven't downloaded yet  I could barely wait to get home and plug the thing in, when I got it.

Here's my softer than soft focus contender, with some lovely pastel colour thrown in for good measure:

Am I the only person who keeps his camera empty, "just in case"?

I don't do the flower thing too often, but does this count?

Cos if it doesn't that's me out. I think it's the top of a hyacinth or something similar. Lousy with plants, me.

Fenster, is that the new 30d ? I have to admit I am absolutely blown away by the definition and the colour in that picture ... not a big fan of the out of focus bits though. Can't quite put a finger on why. Is the flickr link not working ? I'd love to see it large.

-edit- oh right , there's an errant 'i' stuck at the end of the URI that has to be removed -edit-

I don't do the flower shots very often, but every once in a while something catches my eye ... this may be cheesy, I'm not sure that it really counts as macro, but it is a flower

    My latest effort ...
Bit disappointed with reala, first time out shooting with it, its a good bit grainier than I'd anticipated. Maybe its time to drag a roll of velvia out a-macroing !

    What about this one...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,259 ✭✭✭Shiny

I taped to lens's together and strapped the camera
onto my tripod facing vertical downwards and took
many many shots before i managed to get one
    in anywhere near focus.

Once I was focusing correctly I took 5 shots with
each shot focused a little differently to the other
and used mask's in CS3 to maintain the parts of
the head that were correctly focused and then
hide the parts out of focus.

Ouch ! Thats some involved procedure. So you taped the two lenses together front element to front element ? I was wondering how you got the magnification . The DOF must be razor thin with a setup like that :-) Great picture in the end though !.

What puzzles me is how you got that ole wasp to sit still for all that ...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 640 ✭✭✭CraggyIslander

shiny, did you clobber that poor wasp

Anyway here's my entry.. the appleblossom:

    Nope.
My girlfriend did. She threw him out the bedroom window.
Then a few days later after i was sick of looking at pollen
flower stuff i went outside to find the little bugger.

Thats why his eye is cracked and one antenna is missing!
