PC re-setting?

I have a wee problem with my PC re-setting itself every now and again.

It has happened mainly whilst playing some online FPS (BF2142) - no warning, PC just shuts down and re-boots (no blue screen).

I have checked graphics card (6600GT)and processor (AMD64 3000+) temperatures using Everest and they seem normal. Everything was fine for the past 18 months so it's only a recent issue.

Faulty power supply or has anyone any other suggestions?

I assume your using XP so browse to system properties\system starup, System Failure etc click the settings button and under system failure untick the automatically restart box and apply. Then try 2142 and see does it restart or blue screen.

I also would advise you to maybe d/load something like prime95 to give your rig a stress test to see is it a bit flaky.

Try doing a RAM test. I have seen a few systems rebooting suddenly due to bad RAM.

^ Agreed, give memtest a go.

It could be a bad power supply - I had an issue like this before. What kind of Wattage are we talking about? Any new hardware thats taking more power?

I also had another issue like this before that turned out to be a motherboard/Graphics card driver conflict. Any driver changes?

Cheers folks, I will do the checks as suggested.

    PS no driver changes recently
