hows it goin - another question to add to the 9 pages...

Ive been to my doctor and STI clinic
and had all the biggies eliminated but stil not convinced that i am
herpes free. Have these symptoms which doc says is skin inflammation and nothin to worry about but it hasnt gone away. I asked my doctor and she said blood tests for herpes (1or2)
arent done in Ireland, that only swabs of suspected infection are taken when
blisters break. For my own piece of mind i am determined to find out via a
blood test to be as sure as possible. Does anyone know if anywhere in Ireland wil do this? I have found a private clinic in London which will do it for €200 and il go for it if last resort but i find it hard to believe something similar doesn exist in Ireland?

    Cheers

herpes can't be cured. Look it up on google. Cold sores are herpes. Wants you get them they stay with you for life.

Are you sure they don't do blood tests for herpes in St James' ?

I was under the impression they did.

To the OP, there is no need to be rude to the poster who replied. They clearly misunderstood your question, but what you said is not tolerated in this forum.

Attack the post, not the poster - Might be a technique you might wish to follow here in PI.

To everyone else, the OP is seeking locations where herpes testing is carried out in Ireland.

A girl I know contracted it, and she confided in me one night when we were out for a few beers.

The impression I got was that she went there for a blood test after some guy she'd been with admitted he had herpes. I could be wrong though.

Give them a ring and ask...at least you'll know.
I'd take their word on whether blood tests are conducted in Ireland or not over a GP's any time.

'Would U not be inclined to trust the doctors - if they say
that U don't have herpes ? It sounds like U have seen a
    few at this stage.

I had a bit of 'balanitis' (redness & inflammation)
down there last year. It sure made me aul man look
horrendous. But it's not an STD. Took a bit of work
(and time) with creams and better hygiene to get rid
of it though. The point here - the GP lad was spot on
(and he was looking at it from a few feet away).

However, maybe U do need better peace of mind ...'

I know when I went for a test, you had to pay extra for a herpes test. TBH, I didn't get it done cos i think it can be diagnosed just by looking at it (and i had no symptoms), so the test was more to confirm you do rather than don't have it.
You don't have herpes, if your GP says you don't. Honestly he's not gonna say that unless he's 100%

well, when i had my last scare, i went to my gp, she said it was more than likely herpes, but wasn't 100%, so sent me to the guide clinic in the matter for an specialist to look at it.

the expert said it was nothing to worry about, just friction. was a day later, and it was hardly noticable.

point is, there's prob doctors out there who would see a blemish and call it herpes.... in fairness to my doc, she did send me to a specialist.

lets hope i'm as lucky this time round. i know, i'm an idiot, condom broke :/

doesn't look like much, just a tiny bump, but, any kind of bump or blemish down there especially after risky sex is scary.

Is it possible yer aul man is reacting badly
to some chemical in the condoms ?

Stop speculating as to the cause of the immflamation. This is not a medical forum.

OP, take yourself to a second GP or contact a STI clinic.
