I tag a file in Photshop, save it, close it..and the tagged information vanishes when I return to either Lightroom or open it in Photoshop again. PS CS3. Bug?

Sounds like it, if it worked fine in CS2 and it not working now then I'd imagine they haven't added it to the CS3 beta yet.
They have recoded most of CS3 from scratch haven't they?

I had the same problem a little while back Mark.

I do all the tagging via Bridge batch (if there are a lot to do) and it saved everything that could be seen in either Lightroom, CS2/3 & as the JPEG too.

Sometimes the best way is the commandline. I'm screwing about with exiftool so I can batch tag photo (to either add a CC licence or a rights reserved notice). I guess I can throw a script up later.
