Free VMplayer from VMware ( for windows XP, 2000, 2003 ) here Free Ubuntu + browser virtual machine here Free preconfigured Lamp appliances here Trial before buy preconfigured OS+Appliances here Not sure if widely known.:confused:

Just to add to that. there is a website http://www.easyvmx.com/

Lets you create your own images for VMWare. You still need to install the operating system. The only thing it doesn't give you is VMXTools, which while free aren't given out, you need to get from someone you know who has workstation.

And its all legit.
