External Hard drive

    All,

I'm looking for an external hard drive that'll be compatible with my Centos 3 machine (which is running a 2.4 kernel). I had initially thought of going for one of those nice looking Western Digital My Book drives, but after a spot of internet searching, they don't seem happy to play with *nix. Anybody have any recommendations?

I have also considered just buying a drive separately and getting one of those enclosures - your thoughts on that would be most welcome as well.

I have an external Seagate 250GB HD which works fine with Linux. Didn't know there was much that could go wrong with external hard drives and Linux, but maybe I'm just lucky with mine:) .

Cheers for that. I had assumed also there wouldn't be much that could go wrong, not so sure after web searches though. I might pop into maplin today and see what they have.

It's not so much the drive as the controller, but these are tending to be standardised.

I have a Maxtor OneTouch 200GB and haven't had a single problem with it.
