I stumbled into an omaha sng by mistake last night, and it turned out to be fun. I've tried omaha before but it always ended badly!

I just couldn't get my head around good/bad starting hands, I'm getting AAKKos and nearly choking, then realising it's not so good. I'm assuming suited and double suited hands go up in value a lot, is it bad to play hands with 3 of a suit? Is the likes of 89TJ good, since 2 of your straight cards are taken?

anyone have any general advice on starting hands?

Well first of all you should be choking when you get AAKK cos you wont see it very often.
AAxx hands are vg if you can get a large % of your stack in preflop but i wouldnt recomend re-raising with these AAxx hands unleess you can get over 50% in pre flop. Hands like KKxx QQxx arent big like they are in holdem m your better off limping and trying to set up.

Any 4 cards in a row are good hands, but try to keep it over a 7 because hands like 3456 you end up with the low str8 more often than not . 3 cards in a row around a 10 are good as you need a 10 or 5 to make a str8. these hands are good because you can flop two pair and a str8 draw etc

Other hands i like are suited ace and 3 middle cards , ie A789 with the ace suited . suited aces are key to this game as your lookin for the nuts in omaha.
Oh and its all about suits try not too enter pots without suits there so important in omaha

Anyway best of luck learning a great game

There is a big difference between a omaha sng and a cash game blinds etc... ,as you get to see a lot more flops in a cash games also position is a key part to the game more so than hold em,the nuts ussualy change on every street hands need to be protected, you should never be drawing to a non nut hand as it can be ever so costly in omaha, just a small few thoughts any way dont know if there any help really practice makes perfect
